Warning - Brisbane Building & Pest inspection company - cancelled licence

Be aware when looking for a building and pest inspection company in Brisbane that QBCC has advised that PBC - Prime Building & Pest Consultants Pty Ltd - are operating without a licence and are therefore unlikely to have professional indemnity insurance.
They also advised they were fined in July this year for operating without a licence.
Use at your own peril.

Thanks for this post @Azazel I just had a vendor use them to provide all the buyers with bnp reports and here I found your warnings from days past!

I passed on your findings to the agents, but they came back saying the guy who carried out the actual inspection works for another company with his own building inspector, builders, and pest license numbers. But the reports he produced have Prime building and pest logo and details on them. I'm confused who this guy works for.

Do inspectors get contracted out to carry out work under the name of other companies?

 

He works for whoever he likes (or will give him a job) - sad reflection on industrial relations climate in Oz.

 

Apparently that is illegal, they need to use their own number.
The QBCC found against them in this matter, they were charged - again.
I would advise contacting the QBCC asap - if there are issues later that the inspection has missed, there will be no comeback. Also no insurance.
Highly advise to use another company.

Qbcc are looking into them now.

They seem to have restructured the business so as to have an active licence. still run by the same person mind you. But Qbcc said they are not insured.

Qbcc folk said it has got their licencing officer very 'interested' in the matter.

 

For your interest, the director of Prime Building and Pest Consultants is Mark Dougal Rentoul. He is also the Director of Asbestos Audit Ltd. There are also a raft of warnings against Mark issued by Queensland Fair Trading because his company has systematically falsified laboratory tests and been charging for tests that were never done. Fair Trading is also advising people to avoid Mark Rentoul (and his brother Tom) and have no dealings with Asbestos Audit.
