Are you being stalked too? I see you've got the dark glasses on, what are you hiding? ;)

If someone is following you they will be alerted if you make a new post anywhere on the site. It generally means that they like what you write and they want to know when you post something as they might like to read it.

    I got un-followed last week!

Does that mean they hate me - sorta like an FB unfriended?

Usually, but it is creepy if they are first-time posters and the person being followed doesn't know them.

I follow a few members on PC. Either because I've met them and respect their comments or I've noticed alot of their posts make sense to me and I can see i can learn from them. So I follow them and keep up to date with their posts.

The main reason the "following" system exists is for this:

    https://propertychat.com.au/community/account/news-feed

It shows you a summary of the recent activity from users you follow - a good way of keeping track of what is being posted by people or friends you are interested in.

The following system also allows you to implement some profile privacy.

If you don't want other people to be able to see your news feed, or you want to hide other parts of your profile so only people you approve can view it ... then you can adjust your privacy settings:

    https://propertychat.com.au/community/account/privacy

    2015-10-06_14-20-59.png

Setting "Receive your news feed" to "People You Follow Only" means that when someone follows you - they won't see your data in their news feed unless you also follow them back.

Note that turning on this privacy settings won't stop people from seeing your posts on the forum, nor will it stop them from searching for your posts.

Didn't know they knew you were following them... oh well good conversation starter if I ever meet them :D I like the succinctness of the newsfeed for their posts, quick and easy way to see what advice they've posted.

MTR I'd be flattered if I were you :)

I follow the people that I have met at the meet ups, and a few of the experience members here.

I like how people declare on FB that they're scaling back their FB usage, or doing a friend cull. Just do it for gods sake, don't talk about it.
I hardly go on there at all anymore.

You can rank members on the forum , by number of posts , number of likes but not by number of followers .

Would have thought that would be an good indicator to newbies as too who are the members who other members respect , not who are prolific posters and who comes up with the clever , smart a..se comments
